Deep clean or regular clean: which one does your house need?

Almost every complaint about a cleaning company comes down to the same mismatch: somebody booked a maintenance clean for a house that needed a reset. The crew did exactly what a maintenance clean is, the customer looked at the baseboards, and everybody came away unhappy about something that was decided before anyone arrived.

What a regular clean is for

A regular clean holds a house at the standard it is already at. Kitchens and bathrooms fully sanitised, every room dusted, all floors vacuumed and mopped, beds made, trash out, glass wiped clear. Run every two weeks it keeps a home permanently guest-ready, and it is quick because it is never catching up.

What it does not do is reach the things that accumulate on a slower clock: grout, blinds, baseboards, the tops of things, the insides of closets. Not because they are refused, but because a two-hour visit that reached all of them would not have done the kitchen.

What a deep clean is for

A deep clean moves the standard rather than holding it. Baseboards hand-detailed throughout, blinds and interior windowpanes cleaned, tile and grout scrubbed, range hood vents degreased, walls spot-cleaned, closet floors vacuumed, and under the reachable furniture.

It takes considerably longer. A three-bedroom home is usually a full morning for a small crew rather than a couple of hours.

How to tell which you need

Stand in the doorway of your worst room and look at the line where the wall meets the floor. If the baseboards look fine, you need a regular clean. If they do not, no amount of regular cleaning will fix them, and you want a deep clean first.
